Siena Street Scene 4

When first arriving in Siena, I was struck by the textural quality of the city combined with the intense play of light and shade on the facades and streetscapes. In bright sunlight, the streets become dark tunnels in almost complete shadow, while on overcast days, the filtered light softly highlights the textures and forms of these stark but picturesque cobblestone pathways.
